The School of Spirituality of Fr. Jordan: To make mature decisions

On December 5-7, 2014 the School of Spirituality of Father Jordan offered the formation session dedicated to maturation towards taking important decisions in one’s life. The meeting was led by Piotr Szyrszeń SDS, Priest working in the Spiritual Formation Centre and spiritual retreat giver, and Józef Tarnówka SDS, spiritual director and retreat giver, who also translated the Spiritual Diary of Fr. Jordan.

An atmosphere of the desert, silence and meditation accompanies those taking part in sessions provided by the School of Spirituality of Father Jordan. The participants are led towards prayer and spiritual discernment. Among the past formation meetings of the series, which took place in the Krakow’s Centre, were the following: “How to become strong while remaining weak? A history of a beautiful vocation” (M. Piela SDS, Oct. 13-15, 2006); “From apathy to spiritual passion. Spirituality for our times” (Rev. A. Pronzato, April 13-15, 2008); “Between fear and trust” (P. Szyrszeń SDS, April 16-18, 2010); “To know God to know oneself” (P. Szyrszeń SDS, Dec. 7-9, 2012).

Summary of the recent session: John Baptist Jordan entered the Seminary at the age of 27. After making sure that God has called him to begin a religious family, six years later he took the first vows. He was 33 at the time. Someone may ask: “Why so late?” On the other hand, many of us, today, might consider it a right and proper time. In the atmosphere of prayer the participants reflected on the process of discernment and maturation to taking life decisions. The point of reference was the history of the Servant of God Father Francis Mary of the Cross, founder of the Salvatorians, faithful in his vocation to God and the Church, despite many difficulties.
