Scotland: Great Jubilee in Kirkcaldy

The Society of the Divine Savior has its long history in Great Britain. The Salvatorians of the Polish Province work in a number of parishes in Scotland. One of them is the community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kirkcaldy. It celebrated the 150th anniversary of its establishment.

On September 27, 2015 Archbishop Leo Cushley presided over the Holy Mass at St. Marie’s. The Parish community was preparing to the great jubilee by the 9-month peregrination of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Parish Missions in February this year and special prayer during 365 days, among others. Also the interior of the church was renewed. Decoration was designed by Br. Dariusz Makowski SDS.

In the event took part the invited guests: Priests, who earlier worked in the Parish, Priests of the Deanery, representatives of neighboring churches of various confessions and local instututions as well as Discalzed Carmelite nuns from Dysart. The following represented the Salvatorian Society: Fr. Krzysztof Kowalczyk SDS (General Consultor), Fr. Piotr Filas SDS (Superior of the Polish Province), Fr. Alex McAllister SDS (Superior of the British Pro-province), Fr. Tomasz Górny SDS (Vice-Superior from Kraków), Br. Dariusz Makowski SDS and Br. Jarosław Grzesik SDS.
