Fr. Zbigniew Zdanowicz SDS (1954-2016)
Fr. Zbigniew Zdanowicz was born on May 2, 1954, in Wrocław (Breslau), Poland. His parents were Roman and Janina, and he was the only child in the family. From 1961 to 1970, he attended primary school, and from 1970 to 1974, High School (No. 10), in his hometown, Wrocław. After his final exams and graduation from high school he enrolled in the Mechanization of Agriculture College in Wrocław–Pracze.
Ecuador, Manta: Earthquake
On April 16, 2016 an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit the Ecuadorian Province of Manabí, where the Salvatorian Fathers and Brothers are present in the city of Manta, regularly attending about 5,000 parishioners.
Fr. Krzysztof Świętoń SDS (1952 - 2016)
Fr. Krzysztof Świętoń was born on March 13th 1952 in Młoszowa, near Trzebinia. He was raised, together with his sibling by his parents Marian and Maria nee Trębacz. His father was employed by the Polish State Railways and his mother was a housewife. Krzysztof was baptized and received the Sacrament of Confirmation at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Trzebinia-Siersza. In 1959 he began attending the elementary school in Młoszowa. Because the family moved, in 1963 he continued his education in Trzebinia. Since 1967 he attended the High School in Chrzanów, from which he graduated in 1971.
Fr. Tadeusz Sokołowski (1934-2016)
Father Tadeusz Sokołowski, Salvatorian Priest, passed away on March 10th 2016. He was born on November 12th 1934 in Anielin, a village near Iłża, in the region of Kielce. He was baptized in his home Parish in Odechów. He had two younger sisters. Their parents, Stanisław and Marianna, were farmers. Tadeusz began his education in the seven-year elementary school in Kowalikowo. In 1950 he continued in the Industrial School in Radom, from which he graduated with the so-called little secondary school certificate. As he wrote in his CV, he had to interrupt his education because of his mother’s illness and returned home to help in managing the family farm.
Trzebinia: Salvatorian Youth Meeting
Last weekend, young people, who are about to complete their High School education this year, arrived in Trzebinia, from diverse parts of Poland. Every one of them participate in some of the Salvatorian apostolates. In Trzebinia they prayed together and simply enjoyed the fact of being Christians. This year's motto of the meeting was: "My Love is Free. Take It." It referred both to the Love of God for every human being and to love between people. Krzysztof Antkowiak, the special guest, developed this thought, sharing with young people his own story, full of fame and adventures, but also telling them of his experience of staying away from God and finding Him again with the help of other people.
Fr. Ryszard Paszek SDS (1946-2016)
On January 19th 2016 in Koczurki, Poland, passed away our dear Confrere Fr. Ryszard Paszek. During the years 1979-2016 he was a lecturer of philosophy at the Salvatorian Major Seminary in Bagno. He was born on August 16th 1946 in Mikołów, in the Diocese of Katowice, as son of Roman and Małgorzata née Staniek. His father was a miner and his mother took care of their house. Although they lived in another parish, he participated in the Eucharist in the church of the Salvatorians on a regular basis. In 1953 he began his elementary education in Mikołów and then continued it in High School. In 1964 he obtained his secondary school certificate.
Trzebnica: St. Jadwiga Feast Day Celebration
On October 16-18, 2015, took place in Trzebnica the indulgence celebrations in honor of St. Jadwiga of Silesia. To the Patroness of Silesia arrived numerous groups of pilgrims (the sick, women, the young consecrated, residents of Trzebnica and pilgrimages on foot from Wrocław and Oborniki Śląskie). The Most Rev. Józef Kupny, Archbishop Ordinary of the Wrocław Archdiocese presided over the Holy Mass. Fr. Piotr Filas SDS, Provincial Superior of the Polish Province SDS, led the procession through the streets of the city.
Salvatorian Seminary: Vivat academia!
On October 10th 2015 took place the inauguration ceremony of the new academic year 2015/2016 at the Salvatorian Major Seminary in Bagno. The program began the Eucharist presided over by the Most Reverend Józef Kupny, Archbishop Metropolitan of Wrocław.
Scotland: Great Jubilee in Kirkcaldy
The Society of the Divine Savior has its long history in Great Britain. The Salvatorians of the Polish Province work in a number of parishes in Scotland. One of them is the community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kirkcaldy. It celebrated the 150th anniversary of its establishment.
Studio Katolik: "The Apostle" movie
The Salvatorian apostolate Studio Katolik is the official publisher in Poland of the French movie „The Apostle” directed by Cheyenne Carron. It is a story of young Muslim, chosen to become an imam. While going through a crisis he is touched by the love of Jesus Christ.
